Soon after starting the philosophies of east and west classes I realized that philosophy isn’t just about accumulating facts, as fascinating as these may be, and brain knowledge, but about looking inside of myself and growing as a person. It has felt very rewarding to join a community of diverse people who share this passion for bettering ourselves, our relationships with people and doing our part of service through volunteering. I’ve learned so much through being a student and a teacher, engaging in art projects and donation campaigns, nature excursions and games. My experiences at Acropolis have shown me the true meaning of friendship.

For me, philosophy is not about the dusty old way of the philosopher's of yester years. It's about making it practical and real in todays crazy world. It's putting action into our lives with a little bit of that Ideal that is always present in the teachings of the True Philosophers throughout the ages. It's not an intellectual path, although, we do have wonderful teachings which help to remind us, inspire us and bring us to a higher level of the Human essence. Acropolis Boston has brought the cultural and volunteer elements much needed to the philosophical education we need today. Come check us out!

I never realized that philosophy could be so practical. The 8-week course offered at Acropolis Boston was very impactful and helped me sort out the essentials in my life. I would recommend their course for anyone who is serious about living a meaningful life and being the very best person they can be.

Highly recommended. The combination of classes, volunteer activities and spending time with people trying to make the world a better place has inspired ME to be better. The classes are centered around applying ancient wisdom across cultures to your life. I moved to Somerville after college and was searching for a place that would help me continue my education and get involved with my local community. I saw a poster in Central Square for a lecture on Plato, and the instructor was so passionate and knowledgeable, I had to learn more. I enrolled in the introductory course and I'm now taking advanced classes - I didn't know how transformative this philosophical perspective could be and I'm so glad I went to that first lecture!
